Mini Make-Up Haul & MOTD - Chads

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I actually spent mine mostly at home with family, relaxing and catching up on American Horror Story on Netflix (currently on season 4 and I am SO addicted). Anyways, back on track - I ordered a few new make-up products and they have finally all arrived. So here's my mini beauty haul of the month.

NARS is one of my most favourite high-end cosmetics brands and when I found that ASOS were doing 30% off all beauty products, I just had to take the opportunity to add a few more NARS items to my collection.

I re-purchased my all-time favourite concealer in the shade 'Ginger' which matches my skin perfectly. It has a medium-to buildable coverage and a creamy finish, so it provides enough coverage to hide my imperfections, but without it looking cakey! This concealer combined with the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation gives me such a flawless base and I always receive compliments on my skin/make-up whenever I use these two together.

The concealer also lasts the whole working day without creasing, as long as you set it with some sort of powder - I usually just pat on a bit of the 'banana' powder (from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit) or for a more higher coverage I use my beloved Ben Nye Banana Powder - which you can purchase here from Guru Makeup Emporium.

Blushers were never really a part of my regular make-up routine because for some odd reason I used to think it looked 'clown-ish' on me. But now, I feel so dull without it! I only own a few shades of blushers, mostly pinks and peaches, so I felt like I needed a more subtle everyday shade. I ended up choosing this shade in 'Madly'. Please don't be fooled by the pictures; it may look like more of a light bronzer, but once applied on the cheeks it has a lovely soft beige/pink finish. This blush is perfect for a muted natural glam look or even to wear to work.

Since I was NOT able to get my hands on the MAC's 'Oh Darling' highlighter (from their Magic of the Night collection), I just had to purchase another highlighter as a consolation prize. After looking into a few different ones, I decided to purchase this beauty.
Although it looks white in the pan, it gives such a gorgeous golden glow. I highly recommend this highlighter if you are looking for that Kim K or J-Lo glow. In my opinion, it really is a must in everyone's make-up collection, especially if you are a highlight junkie.

Anastasia Beverly Hills: The Self Made Palette

I am a big fan of ABH products, so I was very excited when this palette was released. I don't actually own that many eyeshadow palettes (and the ones I do own are mostly neutral shades) so I felt no guilt whatsoever purchasing this.
The palette consists of 14 shades (includes both matte and shimmery tones) and only cost £26 - which is considerably cheaper than the Urban Decay palettes.
I had a chance to play around with a few of the shades today and I was really pleased with the quality and pigmentation. I also love that there is a good variety of colours.

I purchased this palette from Cult Beauty but unfortunately, it is currently out of stock. However, you can sign up to get updates on stock availability.

My LUSH Favourites - Chads

I absolutely love LUSH  and over the past few years I have purchased and tried many of their products. The products mentioned in this post, are an integral part of my skincare routine and I highly recommend you try them, especially if you have combination or blemish prone skin like me.

1: Bubblegum Lip Scrub:

This is my 3rd pot and as you can see it's half-way finished. Not only does this stuff smell amazing, but it keeps my lips super soft. Although it's named 'bubblegum' flavour, it smells more like candy floss, but I'm not complaining.
I use this lip scrub around 3-4 times a week to keep my lips flake-free and smooth. I find that the use of this scrub provides the perfect base for lipsticks, especially those with a matte formulation.

2: Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask:

When I first started experiencing acne about a year ago, I decided to try out a fresh face mask with natural products, so LUSH was the first place I went to. I was recommended to try this mask by one of the sales assistants and I used this mask religiously (2 times a week) during my acne break-out.
This mask was so comforting and soothing to use, especially when used straight out of the fridge. I have to admit that it is not one of the more pleasant smelling masks they have, but it's bearable and so worth trying if you have oily, troublesome skin.

The mask is made of:
- garlic and tea tree oil, which provides the anti-bacterial properties
- egg whites, which helps tighten skin
-and honey, so you are left with moisturised skin

This product definitely helped me combat my acne, reduce redness and soothe the pain, all without stripping my skin of its essential oils.

3: Brazened Honey Face Mask:

Now that I have my acne in control, my main issue is the scars they left behind. Along with other products, I have been using this mask for a while now and really feel like it has aided the healing process. The lemon juice in the mask is what really helps lighten blemishes.
I like to use this mask at least once a week and love how soft and smooth my skin is afterwards.

4: Cup O' Coffee Mask:

I love using this mask after a long day as it helps me to relax. I currently have this mask on as I'm writing, and my god, does it smell amazing. It literally smells like Starbucks on my face. This is the most recent addition to my lush products and probably my favourite. Like I mentioned before, since I'm dealing with post-acne blemishes, my main focus has been on using products which help brighten my skin and reduce the redness, and that is exactly what this mask does!

5: Tea Tree Toner Tab:

Every now and then I like to steam my face, especially when I feel like my skin is congested or I just need to open my pores for a good cleanse.
LUSH have a few toner tabs but I always buy the tea tree one because of its antibacterial properties and how refreshing it is.
All you need to do is drop it in a bowl of hot water, drape a towel over your head and hover your face over the bowl so the steam can cleanse and soothe your skin.

Honorary mention: Grease Lightening Spot Treatment:

I rarely use this now, but this was a nightly necessity when I had bad acne. It really helped me control my acne and soothe the redness and pain.

What are your favourite LUSH products? Feel free to comment and let me know :)

Cocochan Ft OOTD - Chads

If you know me, you will know that I have a list for EVERYTHING - including a list of all the restaurants/food locations in London that I would like to visit. Cocochan has been on that list for quite some time now and I finally had the perfect excuse to go when my best friend wanted to meet up for a meal (followed by some shopping of course!).

The location is very convenient - less than a 5 minute walk from Bond Street Station and right behind Selfridges; so we could eat and get to shopping straight away.

What excited me the most about this place is that it provides Halal Dim Sum - which is very rare to come by. The cuisine is Pan-Asian but with a modern contemporary touch. The décor and atmosphere was very classy and not overcrowded at all - but that might just be down to the time we went (around 4pm).

Now, I know I mentioned the Dim Sum is Halal, but despite that, I did not order any meat/chicken stuffed dumplings because I read the most positive reviews on the prawn dumplings. So obviously for the starters we ordered the XO Prawn Dumplings and Tom Yum Goong soup.

XO Prawn Dumplings
The dumplings were made of purple cabbage dough, stuffed with prawns and a spicy sauce and topped with spiced edamame. Not only were they tasty but looked so pretty too with the contrasting colours.

Tom Yum Goong Soup

I am not normally one to order soup for starters, but my friend persuaded me to try this dish and I am so glad she did because it was so good and packed with flavour. It was spicy and sour yet refreshing at the same time. The soup included prawns, mini mushrooms (love) and a variety of herbs, including lemon grass.

Wok-Grilled Black Pepper Beef with Asparagus
Kimchee Lamb Cutlets

For Mains I ordered the Wok Grilled Black Pepper Beef with Asparagus and Jasmine rice
The beef cuts were cooked in a spicy peppery soy sauce which was delicious. I ordered this dish to be cooked to a medium - so the beef was tender and juicy.
My friend ordered the Lamb Cutlets with stir fried vegetables. I normally stay away from lamb dishes as I really dislike the smell, but they looked so good I had to try a piece - and they were cooked so well, I couldnt even smell it. However, I do have to add that there was quite a lot of fat on the cutlets, which was slightly off putting.

Before I forget, the mocktails need an honorary mention. Mojitos are usually my go-to drink wherever I go, but I decided to try this pretty pink drink - Miss V. Cocochan - which was made from lychee, cranberry juice and lemonade - I really, really recommend you to try this drink if you ever decide to visit Cocochan as it is so refreshing and tasty.

Overall, I definitely recommend this place if you are in to pan-asian cuisine. The service was friendly and quite fast, with the waiters regularly coming over to check if we needed anything.

I will make sure to come back again to try some of the other dishes on their menu!

Oh, and I also dragged my dear friend out to take a few pictures of my casual outfit - what are friends for ey ;)

My Daily Skincare Routine - Ishy

Hi everyone, hope you're all well, I thought I would start the month off with my 'daily skincare routine'. Below are the products I like to use, as I feel they work best on my combination skin.

Garnier Micellar Water

I love this micellar water by Garnier,
it is inexpensive and best of all removes my makeup effectively
leaving my skin feeling 'pure'. I go for the 'oily to combination' bottle as
I have a oily t-zone and some dry areas around my lips.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

After several months of switching from one lotion to another, some of which included,
Elizabeth Arden 'miracle complexion' and Body shop 'vitamin E moisture cream'
I have finally found the perfect daily moisturising cream which suits me well. Aveeno leaves my skin feeling nourished and tackles dry areas very well, I have also noticed that massaging the lotion into my skin before wearing my makeup leaves my face looking even and healthy. I have been using Aveeno for 4 months now, and I don't see myself switching again, YAAAY!  Another benefit is the formulae of the product, this lotion is a great consistency it spreads across the face smoothly without making it feel too dry or oily.
I apply lotion in the morning after washing my face, and also once after removing my makeup before bed.

Carmex Cherry Lip Balm

Some of you may find it weird that Carmex is actually a part of my daily skincare routine
but if I'm being honest, can't live without it, I love how carmex just soaks into my lips.
Using carmex prevents my lips from drying and also leaves them appearing smooth when I apply lipstick! :)I feel that carmex is better than vaseline, it smells nice "mmhhm cherry" and protects my lips (Spf 15)

St Ives Invigorating Facial Scrub

Although I don't use the Apricot scrub daily, I use it often, 2/3 times a week. This product speaks for itself 'UK's No.1', I have been using it for nearly a year now and even till this day It has the same results on my skin, smooth , fresh feeling, and flawless. I like the texture of the scrub against my skin it isn't too harsh, and doesn't leave my skin feeling sore or looking red. St Ives also offer this product to suit individual skin types for example 'combination skin' 'dry skin', for those of you looking to try it. Lastly its a great inexpensive face scrub which can be purchased at Superdrugs/Boots usually combined with 2 for 1 offers :)

Neutrogena Cream Wash

I use Neutrogena's 'Pink Grapefruit Cream Wash' every morning to start my day, I always opt for the cream edition rather than the gel as it cleanses my skin without overdrying it. The formulae is amazing its a slightly pink silky looking cream which smells of delicious grapefruit freshness. I first started using this product last December 2014 before I went to Bangladesh, I had a horrible break out which I had never experienced before.
I picked up this face wash whilst I was holiday shopping in Superdrugs, and within 1 week of using it my skin looked and felt 'visibly clear'. The cream wash also removes dirt, oil and impurities to help prevent spots and blackheads.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about my go to skincare products,
