Birthday OOTD x Novikov

Me and Chads both love trying out new restaurants, so for my 20th birthday we got dolled up and headed over to the Novikov Resturaunt & Bar based in London.

Heres our OOTN

If you know us or follow us on instagram @ishyxchads you will have noticed we are both major foodies, and love to try out different cuisines.

We picked Novikov which is a 2 minute walk from Green Park station. From reviews and pictures, this restaurant seemed like the perfect place to try new dishes.

If you are planning to visit Novikov I should point out there are two options of cuisines
'Italian' and 'Asian'.

We reserved a table in the Asian room because it looked more appealing to us as the menu offers more halal options including beef, chicken and duck.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere for most occasions and even casual dining.
Most importantly the waiters are friendly and attentive.

Take a look at some of our pictures and reviews on what we tried

On Arrival
We were greeted with this pot of fresh vegetables and humous, whilst we picked our starters.
This is a good idea to welcome guests/customers, as many restaurants don't do this.

Drinks:
We were recommended these drinks by our waiter and they were both so good. The drink on the left was made from fresh strawberry lemonade and the drink on the right from elderflower juice (my fave), peach, lemon and 18K gold flakes

Starters:
Dim Sum
Crispy Shitake mushroom dumplings - these had a really nice nutty, crunchy and spicy flavour. It was also a nice alternative to the usual prawn dumplings that we've had.

Maki Sushi
Prawn Tempura & Avocado! We have a slight obsession with avocado's...so combine that with a spicy prawn sushi =
This was possibly the best dish of the night. If you don't like raw fish but wish to try sushi - we would definitely recommend trying this dish or the spicy tuna roll.

Main Meal:

We both ordered Chilli Ginger Garlic Spicy Beef Fillet (180g) (cooked to a nice medium to well-done) as we both love steak. Although the portion looks small in the pictures, it honestly was more than filling! This is because the beef fillet were already cut up for us into smaller pieces, with the fat trimmed off also. The beef was so full of flavour and the spicy sauce it came with complimented it well.

Grilled Wok Aubergine with Dashi Sauce - we weren't too fond of this dish to be honest. It wasn't bad, just a bit bland.

Grilled Asparagus With Sweet Soy, Sesame - this was a lovely side dish to have with our beef fillet.

Dessert:
Never one to say no to dessert, we ordered the Milk Chocolate Fondant - With Hazelnut Praline
& Vanilla Ice Cream to share (we were really stuffed by this point).
The chocolate cake was soft and filled with a chocolate sauce with crunch pieces of finely chopped hazelnut - which oozed out of the cake as we cut it. The rich chocolate sauce was balanced perfectly by the vanilla ice cream.

Novikov is probably one of the best Pan-Asian restaurants we have been to and although it is on the pricier side, it's such a lovely place to go for a special occasion. The asian menu has so many Halal options, the service was very good and the decor of the restaurant is just amazing.

- Love Ishy & Chads
